The 26-year-old Southampton defender has been the subject of mass speculation for the whole summer.
Van Dijk, valued at around £50 million by Southampton, handed in a transfer request earlier this week in a move which appeared to boost Liverpool and Chelsea's hopes of signing him, according to The Telegraph.
And although Redknapp admits he can't wait to see where the big Dutch centre-back goes, the former Reds midfielder believes he would punt for a switch to Anfield over anywhere else.
"Chelsea and Liverpool are in the hunt for him and while I think he’ll choose Anfield, I can’t wait to see where he goes.
"If Liverpool do sign him and manage to keep hold of Philippe Coutinho, Jurgen Klopp’s side would have a great chance of winning the title."
Jurgen Klopp's side kick off their Premier League campaign on Saturday by visiting Watford, but Redknapp is right.
Signing Van Dijk and keeping Coutinho would be huge for Liverpool's title challenge, but it remains to be seen whether either transfer saga works out in their favour.
