Magpies boss Benitez has been left frustrated in his pursuit of new signings at times this summer, but he has tied up deals for Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo, Mikel Merino and Jacob Murphy, whilst also signing loanee Christian Atsu on a permanent basis.
Kenedy (R) in action for Chelsea
Atsu arrived from Chelsea, and it seems that he will now be joined another player making the move from Stamford Bridge to Tyneside ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
The Mirror report that Newcastle have struck a deal with Chelsea to take Kenedy on loan for the season, landing the 21-year-old after a tumultuous summer for him so far.
As reported by The Guardian, Chelsea sent Kenedy home from their pre-season tour of China over controversial social media posts, and it's no great surprise to see the Blues send him out on loan again.
A 2015 signing from Fluminense in his native Brazil, Kenedy has scored twice in 22 games for Chelsea, and endured a miserable loan spell with Watford last season, playing just once before being sent back to West London in December.
Kenedy of Chelsea goes past the challenge from Angel Di Maria of PSG
A pacey, attack-minded player who can play at left wing back or on the left of midfield, Kenedy should give Benitez a flexible option down the left flank, where he can challenge with Paul Dummett and the aforementioned Atsu.
Having failed to break through at Chelsea, then struggled at Watford, then been sent home this summer, Kenedy needs a strong season, and Newcastle will hope that he can have a huge impact at St. James' Park.
