Burnley have made a 'shock' £10 million bid for Stoke City centre-back Ryan Shawcross, according to The Sun (10 August, page 55).
With two days to go until their season opener at the home of reigning champions Chelsea, Burnley are still to find a replacement for Michael Keane, who they sold to Everton at the start of last month for a fee that could rise to £30 million.

And after selling striker Andre Gray to Watford on Wednesday, the Clarets are said to have 'money to burn' as they enter the final three weeks of the summer transfer window.
Shawcross, who captains Stoke, is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and could be tempted into leaving the Bet365 Stadium if fellow centre-back Bruno Martins Indi arrives from Porto this month.
According to Sky Sports the Potters have agreed a £7 million fee to sign their former loan star on a permanent basis, despite having already strengthened their back line with the capture of Chelsea's Kurt Zouma on loan.
Shawcross, who has been capped once by England, moved to Stoke on a temporary basis from Manchester United 10 years ago and has never left.

Burnley have been linked with several potential Keane replacements this summer, but to no avail.
