Former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat has warned Danny Rose he has jumped the gun in his criticism of the club.

Rose hit out at the lack of spending by Spurs this summer in an interview with The Sun. Tottenham are yet to sign a single player.

Pleat responded to Rose's comments, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live.

He said: "Remember as a left-back, Rose was no more influential in Tottenham's terrific season last year or the previous year when they finished third.

"He was no more influential than any of the other 10 players. I can think of several English left-backs, people like Bertrand, Shaw, Chilwell, Cresswell, Gibbs of Arsenal, so Danny's not the only left-back in the world.

"He's really jumped the gun because August 31st is the date and make no mistake, Tottenham will sign one, two, may be three players."

Pleat is not just an ex-Tottenham manager, but he works as a consultant and scout for the club.

He will have his finger on the pulse regarding the club's plans for the summer.

So far their lack of activity has left fans and players frustrated. There is still time to make it up and splash the cash, but time is running out.
