Leeds United fans have been reacting to the news that Liam Cooper has signed a new contract at Elland Road.

Leeds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news confirmed by the club's official website that defender Liam Cooper has signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road.

The Whites have tied a number of their players down to new contracts in recent times, with Tyler Denton, Gaetano Berardi and Kalvin Phillips all agreeing fresh terms over the last couple of weeks.

And Cooper has become the latest to commit his future to Leeds, with the club's official website announcing that he is now set to stay until 2021.

The news has prompted a somewhat mixed reaction on social media, reflecting the kind of spell that the centre-back has enjoyed since arriving from Chesterfield back in 2014.

The 25-year-old has been permanent skipper in the past and captained the side during their season opener with Bolton last weekend, having been vice-captain over the last couple of years.

However, his form has often seen him criticised - especially when he was trying to rival the likes of Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson for a place in the team last season.

But the news has also received plenty of positive responses from the fans, which is hardly surprising given that Cooper was excellent in the win at the Macron Stadium, seemingly hinting that he could be a key player for Thomas Christiansen's men during the coming campaign.

And the supporters have expressed their delight to see another played tied down, and urged the club to keep those new deals coming.

Here is the best of the reaction...
