Danny Rose wants Tottenham to show ambition.
Citing impressive recruitment from Manchester City and Manchester United, Rose says he feels Spurs are lacking star power.
The defender said that he wants to be pushed for his place and would like star signings to lift the mood at the club, and criticises teammates who have towed the party line to suggest that the current squad is good enough.
Rose says he wants the club to emulate the deal they pulled off to sign Rafael van der Vaart several years ago.
He said: "Under Harry Redknapp we signed Rafa van der Vaart. It was like, ‘Wow, how did he do that?’
“I mean signings like that are what we need — that’s just my opinion.
As a Tottenham player I’d love to see more signings. It would lift me seeing a top player come through the door.
“I’ve seen a couple of players previously saying, ‘We don’t need a top signing or signings’.
"But I am sorry, I am not singing off the same hymn-sheet on that one."
Tottenham already have a fantastic first choice XI, but their strength in depth has been questioned by pundits, especially after their failure in the Champions League last season.
With Rose's discontent, Tottenham are paying the price for a summer of inaction, and he is more than willing to speak his mind and unafraid of the consequences.
The England left-back has always enjoyed a strong relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, but his explosive interview coming so close to the season is certainly going to put that to the test.
