Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi might be on the move this summer, after comments made by his agent recently.
“The truth is that Steven wants to leave," his agent told Estadio Deportivo.
“Everybody at Sevilla knows that, the president and the technical staff are aware of it and we hope he will be sold.”
It was only a couple of weeks ago that the big Frenchman impressed against Arsenal in the Emirates Cup, with the Spanish side beating the Gunners.
As it goes, Arsenal have been linked with the 28-year-old in the past and it's fair to say that a lot of fans of the North London club would love to see him line up alongside Granit Xhaka in Arsene Wenger's midfield next season.
If @Arsenal can sign Steven N'zonzi I think we're going to have a better chance this season. Esp in our midfield.— VYBO (@eao_10) August 10, 2017
Be a great signing for us. I'd love to see him at Arsenal - did really well in the Emirates Cup— Charlesa (@Charlesa77) August 10, 2017
He would be great alongside Xhaka. N'zonzi is a proper defensive midfielder.— Kingslayer_ (@Imrann507) August 10, 2017
I would like Seri, but Nzonzi is a good player and better than Coquelin and Elneny.— Guilherme G.V. (@Guilherme49L0) August 10, 2017
absolute monster, would worry about mobility though if he's playing alongside xhaka— Sam Kerr (@samkerr4) August 10, 2017
Anyone who says no is deluded, he's literally untouchable in the middle of the pitch. You can't get the ball from him.— Ilyas (@ilyxd11) August 10, 2017
N'Zonzi would be magnificent for us! been a fan since he was at Blackburn— Philani Mukwakwami (@PhiLani_mukwa) August 10, 2017
Estadio Deportivo goes on to report that the one-time Arsenal target would fetch somewhere in the region of £36.2 million.
But is a move likely? In a word, no.
Wenger appears to want a winger, with Thomas Lemar among those linked, and there has been little to no speculation about a defensive midfielder.
The Gunners already boast Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny and, unless one is sold, it would appear unlikely that the French manager is going to strengthen that area of the field.
