Former Rangers forward Peter Lovenkrands has named Newcastle's St James' Park amongst the stadiums which he believes provide an atmosphere comparable to that that he experienced on a number of occasions at Ibrox.
Lovenkrands was taking part in a Twitter Q&A session for the Gers - for whom, he now works as an academy coach, having returned in May of this year 11 years after leaving as a player - when he was asked by one fan which grounds provided an atmosphere that compared to the atmosphere at Ibrox on a European night.
St James Park was fantastic, Shalke too. They have a great stadium. https://t.co/WgA08mHoiO— Rangers Youth DC (@rfc_rydc) August 7, 2017
Cynics would perhaps suggest that his answers are not actually that surprising given that he played for Rangers, Schalke and Newcastle during his career, but it must also be mentioned that the two British grounds in particular are synonymous with producing atmospheres that leave a lasting memory, while the Veltins-Arena is also an incredibly impressive stadium.
And having been asked about the Ibrox atmosphere on a European night, Lovenkrands will be hoping that Pedro Caixinha's men can keep making progress in the coming years, so the supporters and some of the current crop of players can experience how electric the ground can be when the Gers face a continental giant.
Similarly, Lovenkrands may be hoping that Newcastle's squad give the fans reason to leave St James' Park rocking now that they are back in the Premier League.
