Southampton snapped up Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina on Tuesday afternoon - and club legend Matt Le Tissier has sent him a welcome message upon his move to the South Coast.
The Saints have been fairly quiet in the transfer market this summer, with Jan Bednarek the only signing made before the club smashed their transfer record on midfielder Lemina.
As reported by BBC Sport, Southampton have paid £18million to land Lemina from Juventus, handing him a five-year contract after failing to nail down a regular spot in the Juve first team behind the likes of Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and Claudio Marchisio.
Now, Lemina has the chance to play regularly. The 23-year-old came up through the ranks with Lorient before joining Marseille in 2013, and two goals in 50 games at the Stade Velodrome earned him a 2015 move to Juventus.
The Gabon international, who has nine caps for his country having switched his allegiance away from France, made just 42 appearances in his two years in Turin, and he will now hope to become a key player with Southampton.
Lemina figures to play alongside Oriol Romeu in the Southampton midfield, and his arrival gives Saints fans some positive news having seen star defender Virgil van Dijk hand in a transfer request earlier this week.
Matt Le Tissier
With Lemina now on board, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to offer a welcome message to the midfielder, before jokingly wishing him luck on a move to Liverpool next summer.
The Reds - who remain in the pursuit of Van Dijk - have signed the likes of Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Nathaniel Clyne and Sadio Mane from Southampton since 2014, and the running joke has become that Liverpool will sign anybody who impresses for Southampton; something Lemina will be hoping to do having completed his move.
Do you think Lemina is a good signing for Southampton?
