Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Olympiakos defender Panagiotis Retsos.

According to SDNA in Greece, Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Olympiakos defender Panagiotis Retsos in action against Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League last week.

Spurs are the only Premier League team yet to bring in a new signing this summer, with Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino wisely deciding not to partake in the exorbitant transfer market so far.

However, Pochettino does need additions. Kyle Walker has been sold to Manchester City, and whilst a right back is needed to replace him, Spurs may also look to land a young centre back to develop behind Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

Now, SDNA in Greece report that Tottenham sent a scout to watch Olympiakos defender Panagiotis Retsos in action against Partizan Belgrade in a Champions League qualifying clash last week.

With a 2-2 draw in Greece, Olympiakos went through with a 5-3 aggregate victory, and Retsos played the full 90 minutes, picking up a yellow card in the process as Spurs cast their eye over the teenager.

Retsos, who turns 19 on Wednesday, has come up through the ranks with Olympiakos, and has now made more than 35 first-team appearances for the club having been thrown into the limelight as a youngster.

Retsos, who was born in South Africa, possesses good pace and ability on the ball, whilst he can also play at right back, offering appealing versatility to Pochettino should Spurs firm up their interest.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs do make a move for Retsos before the transfer deadline, but as a promising young defender with real potential, he appears to fit Tottenham’s transfer strategy.
