West Ham United striker Antonio Martinez has reportedly caught the eye of Slaven Bilic over pre-season.

According to a report in Football.London, Slaven Bilic has been hugely impressed by West Ham United youngster Antonio Martinez over pre-season.

Martinez has been training with West Ham’s first-team, as the Hammers have made their preparations ahead of new Premier League campaign.

And Bilic has reportedly been delighted at the progress he has seen from Martinez.

Bilic now intends to give Martinez a spot in his first-team squad, with the former Valencia man all set to make his breakthrough this season.

Martinez spent part of last season out on loan at Oxford United, and he impressed in League One.

The youngster is now set to be handed an opportunity to show he can play at the top level.

Martinez will be in competition with Javier Hernandez for a starting place at West Ham, and while the 20-year-old is likely to be a reserve option, Bilic is said to be willing to test the Hammers’ prospect out.

West Ham fans have expressed frustration at the lack of young talents to come through at the London Stadium of late, but Martinez’s inclusion may change their views somewhat.
