But Hull's asking price appears to have ended Celtic's pursuit.

Celtic considered Hull City winger Kamil Grosicki as an alternative to Manchester City's Patrick Roberts, according to Polish website goal.pl.

The Scottish Sun claims Roberts has his heart set on a return to Celtic Park, where he spent the past 18 months on loan.

And despite adding Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes earlier in the summer, Celtic are still pursuing a deal for the England Under-20 star.

But with other clubs also said to be on Roberts' trail - notably Nice and Southampton - Celtic have wisely considered alternatives as they await a response from Manchester City and the player.

And according to goal,pl, Hull's Grosicki was one option considered by Brendan Rodgers' side, until his asking price was disclosed by the Championship side.

It is claimed the Tigers are seeking between £9-10 million for the Poland international, an amount which is described as being 'significantly greater than Celtic (are able to pay)'.

Grosicki, who is also said to have interest from Everton (goal.pl) and Watford (Przeglad Sportowy), started Hull's 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday and provided the assist for Jarrod Bowen's equaliser.
