Can Tottenham Hotspur win the Premier League title this season?

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said on The Debate - Live show on the Sky Sports Premier League channel on Monday night (broadcast from 10pm, August 7, 2017) that Tottenham Hotspur will not win the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham finished second in the Premier League last season and ended up third in the standings during the 2016-17 campaign.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher has written off Spurs’ chances of winning the title this season.

“I don’t think they will,” said Carragher on The Debate - Live show on the Sky Sports Premier League channel on Monday night (broadcast from 10pm, August 7, 2017) when asked if Tottenham can win the title this season.

“I just think this move to Wembley will kill them in terms of winning the title,” added the Englishman.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp, though, believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s can win the league title this campaign.

“They can win the league, they can win the league, they can definitely, third, second, no reason at all why they can’t,” said Redknapp about Spurs’ title chances on The Debate - Live show on the Sky Sports Premier League channel on Monday night (broadcast from 10pm, August 7, 2017).

Tottenham have progressed steadily under manager Pochettino, who took over in the summer of 2014, and the fans will expect that progress to continue.

True, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all have strengthened their respective squads in the summer transfer window, but Spurs have a settled group of players who must be hungry after missing out on the title for the past two seasons.

What Tottenham need to sign in the summer transfer window is a right-back to replace Kyle Walker - who has left for Manchester City - and an able back-up to star striker Harry Kane.
