HITC Sport understands Middlesbrough 'keeper set for Burton move.
Connor Ripley in action for Oldham Athletic
Ripley is highly-rated at Middlesbrough, but he is currently down the pecking order in Garry Monk's first-team plans at the Riverside.
Ripley was not in the squad for the weekend's opening Championship game of the season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, with summer signing Darren Randolph starting in goal and Dimi Konstantopoulos on the bench.
The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his contract at Middlesbrough, but the club have moved to secure him on a new two-year deal to keep him on Teesside until 2019.
Ripley has spent the last four seasons out on loan to Oxford, Bradford City, Ostersund, Motherwell and Oldham Athletic as Middlesbrough were keen for him to gain some valuable first-team experience.
England Under-20 international Ripley impressed at Oldham, equalling the club’s all-time clean sheet record and sweeping the boards at their end of season awards.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking Ripley on loan this season, but Burton have moved quickly to agree a deal with Middlesbrough for the shot-stopper.
Burton lost their opening game of the campaign to Cardiff and Brewers boss Nigel Clough is keen to bolster his squad before the close of the transfer window.
