Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing a move for Luuk de Jong.

According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer is planning a move to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong as he looks to land another goalscorer this summer.

The Eagles have been fairly quiet in the transfer window this summer, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jairo Riedewald the only players to be brought in by new Palace manager De Boer ahead of the new Premier League season.

However, with just weeks of the transfer left to go, De Boer is in the market for another striker, which is no great surprise given that Fraizer Campbell was released, Loic Remy has returned to Chelsea and Connor Wickham is working his way back from a major injury.

Now, the Daily Mail report that Palace have identified PSV Eindhoven’s Luuk de Jong as a top target, with manager De Boer planning a move to sign his fellow Dutchman this month.

Whilst Newcastle fans may remember De Jong for his goalless loan spell in 2014, the centre forward has hit 67 goals in the last three seasons for PSV, firing them to two Eredivisie titles.

De Jong hit 32 goals in all competitions during the 2015-16 season, but struggled last term with only nine goals – and having been left out of Sunday’s friendly with Augsburg, many believe that he could be on his way.

De Boer watched on as Ajax manager when De Jong fired PSV to those two title triumphs, and may believe that he can get the former FC Twente and Borussia Monchengladbach striker back to top form with a move to Selhurst Park.

Strong, good in the air and a real penalty area poacher, De Jong would give Palace another option in attack alongside Christian Benteke, and the striker himself may be keen on another shot at Premier League success having failed to impress with Newcastle.
