The Bayern Munich man would be a fantastic addition to the Tottenham Hotspur squad.
Spurs fans are growing increasingly more frustrated with every day that passes this summer, as their club continues to flounder in the summer transfer market, whilst all of their direct rivals are strengthening left right an centre.
What makes matters worse for Tottenham is the fact that they have already sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50 million, and there could be another high profile exit, according to the Sun, with Bayern Munich readying a huge offer for Eric Dier, believed to be in the region of £50 million.
Mauricio Pochettino will surely be desperate to hang on to the England international, but there is a way in which the Lilywhites could benefit by allowing him to leave - by demanding Bayern's Javi Martinez as part of any kind of potential deal involving Dier.
The 28-year-old Spain international is a world class operator, and is highly versatile. He can play in a variety of positions including centre-back and the deep-lying midfield role - something that would make him the perfect replacement for the 23-year-old Englishman, and will surely appeal to Pochettino.
Martinez joined the Bavarian giants from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2012, and has been a regular feature in the Bayern side over the past half decade, making 133 appearances.
He has won five league titles, three German cups and a Champions League during his time in Bavaria, and that kind of winning mentality would undoubtedly prove to be a major asset to the Spurs side, considering the lack of winning experience currently in and around Pochettino's squad.
The Spaniard is technically apt, a wonderful passer of the football and possesses the kind of powerful frame that would help him succeed in the Premier League.
And whilst the Lilywhites will not want to lose Dier, the opportunity to bring Martinez to the club, as well a large amount of cash, could be one that is hard to resist.
