Aston Villa and Sunderland are keen on signing the Huddersfield Town man, according to a report.

According to The Mail, Aston Villa are weighing up a loan move for Huddersfield Town's Joe Lolley.

It was reported by The Mail this week that Sunderland and Sheffield United were also interested in the 24-year-old.

But the same publication now claims that Aston Villa are considering a loan move for the midfielder, who helped Huddersfield to Premier League promotion last season.

The report goes on to claim that Lolley, who only started eight Championship games last season, is a boyhood Aston Villa fan and that fact may give Steve Bruce something of an advantage if he has to convince him to join.

The Mail added that Huddersfield boss David Wagner was keen on keeping him in the Premier League, though recognised his desire to play regular football.

But Aston Villa have an abundance of midfielders so it remains to be seen where he would fit in at Villa Park.

Sentiment aside, perhaps Sunderland might be a better option, if first-team football was his ambition.
