The Leicester City ace would be a decent signing for Watford.
Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Hornets as surprise outsiders in the race to sign Foxes striker Islam Slimani.
The 29-year-old moved to the King Power Stadium from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be in the region of £29 million, but struggled to establish himself as a key member of Leicester’s first-team.
The Algerian scored just eight goals in 29 outings in all competitions for Craig Shakespeare’s side, although only 16 of those were starts.
Leicester City’s Islam Slimani in action
The east Midlands outfit are set to cut their losses on Slimani already, according to the Sun, and will listen to offers for the 52-capped international this summer.
And SkyBET believe that his next destination could very well be Watford, listing Marco Silva’s side as 8/1 to sign the Foxes forward, although Newcastle are still favourites to obtain his signature at 7/2, ahead of Everton at 7/1.
The 29-year-old would undoubtedly be a useful addition to the Hertfordshire outfit’s squad, and given the opportunity of more regular first-team action, he could finally realise his true potential in England.
It will be difficult for Watford to sign him, however, with clubs such as Newcastle and Everton also in the mix for his signature.
