FT - Jamie Dimon said may run for President in 2020

The White House

Trumping Trump ?

The Financial Times reports that Donald Trump’s election as US president is seen as evidence of the rise of populism. Perhaps what the Democrats need is a counter-movement? Make way for the bankers.

Jamie Dimon, chief executive of US investment banking giant JPMorgan Chase, is a Democrat. Former colleagues believe he might throw his hat into the ring to become the next leader. One former JPMorgan senior manager recently let slip to the newspaper that he was convinced Dimon would run for president in 2020.

Dimon’s once-heir-apparent, Jes Staley, who is now CEO of Barclays, is a fellow Democrat. If Dimon were to pursue his political dream, he might be tempted to call on Staley to join forces — pending the outcome of the UK watchdog’s investigation into Staley’s whistleblowing incident, of course.
