According to reports from The Sunday People (printed edition; press reader) Southampton are keeping close eye on Burton Albion’s midfielder Joe Sbarra.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino looks on durin the Pre Season Friendly match between Brentford and Southampton at Griffin Park on July 22, 2017 in Brentford, England.

However, he has only 12 months left on his present deal, and therefore, Southampton can snap him up at a bargain price if they move quickly.

He scored his first goal of the pre-season in Burton’s 2-2 draw against Matlock Town steering a rebound shot from close range.

The youngster has made some eye-catching performances in each of the games he has played so far. He has played in a variety of midfield roles, but looked best in the attacking midfield role.

He is pacy, tidy in possession, and good at passing as well.

Sbarra looks an exciting prospect and it remains to be seen whether Southampton come up with a concrete offer for the youngster.
