Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack has been linked with a move to Sunderland in the summer transfer window.

Ross McCormack is one of the best players in the Championship, but the 30-year-old striker’s future at Aston Villa seems to be uncertain.

The Scotland international joined Villa from Fulham in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million.

Much was expected of the former Rangers and Leeds United striker, but McCormack failed to make a massive impact at Villa Park and was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest in February 2016 for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign.

McCormack is back at Villa, but according to The Sunday People (print edition, page 58, July 23, 2017), manager Steve Bruce is ready to listen offers for the 30-year-old (click here to read more).

The former Cardiff City man has been linked with no fewer than four Championship clubs. According to TEAMtalk, Sunderland, Reading, Derby County and Hull City all want the striker this summer.

Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has responded to speculation linking the Black Cats with a move for the ex-Motherwell striker.

“We’re going to be linked with a lot of players, we’ve been speaking to several players and several agents, seeing if we can get the right deal for many targets that we’ve got, for some who nobody has even mentioned yet,” Grayson told The Shields Gazette when asked about speculation linking Sunderland with McCormack.

“We know it’s an area we need to strengthen, we’ve done it already. Will we have more acquisitions in the top end of the pitch? Probably.”
