Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers will face Sheffield Wednesday at the Hillsborough Stadium on Sunday.

Sheffield Wednesday winger George Boyd has told The Star that he is looking forward to playing against Rangers this weekend.

Championship club Wednesday will take on Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers in a pre-season friendly match at the Hillsborough Stadium on Sunday.

Boyd has played against the Gers in recent years with Burnley in pre-season games, and the 31-year-old Scottish winger has praised the Ibrox club’s fans for the atmosphere they create.

“It will be great when Rangers come down with all their fans,” Boyd told The Star. “We were there the last couple of years with Burnley so we know what the crowd will be like and it’ll feel like a proper game not just a friendly.”

Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a loyal fanbase, and one can expect quite a few of the Gers’ fans at the game against Wednesday on Sunday afternoon.

The match against the Owls will be the Glasgow giants’ final pre-season friendly before the 2017-18 Scottish Premiership campaign kicks off.

Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has praised Caixinha and has spoken highly of his Portuguese compatriot.

“The coach is my friend,” Carvalhal told The Star. “He’s a nice guy. I know him very well and he’s a good coach. We quickly agreed to the game.”
