Theresa May is in a stronger position than she was in just after the election, but which minister is the Ladbrokes’ favourite to next leave the cabinet?

According to the Guardian, in the middle of July, the influential Conservative backbench MP group, the 1922 Committee said they would support the PM if she chose to sack troublesome ministers, a position which has strengthened Theresa May’s hand.

The current odds-on favourite with Ladbrokes is the Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond, with odds of 3/1.

Mr Hammond has been in the news for saying that a post-Brexit temporary arrangement with the EU should be finished by 2022, as reported by the BBC.

Before the election, the New Statesman reported that the PM had not ruled out sacking him after the election, but he remains in place to this day.

There is even a Change.org petition calling on the PM to sack the chancellor, which has gained over 5,000 signatures since it was started three weeks ago. It is now in the top 15% of Change.org petitions and was started by Henry Zarb.

Theresa May

In bad news for the prime minister, she herself is the second odds-on favourite for being the next minister to leave the cabinet, with odds of 5/1.
