Report: Left-back Aidan McIlduff on trial at Leeds United after Celtic release

The Leeds United trialist is looking for a new club after leaving Celtic, whom he joined aged seven.

Former Celtic left-back Aidan McIlduff will play for Leeds United Under-23s against Southampton on Saturday, according to The Scottish Sun.

A product of Celtic's academy system, McIlduff was released by the Bhoys earlier this summer - despite scoring in their 3-0 Youth Cup win against Rangers in April.

It is claimed the 20-year-old appeared in Leeds U23s' behind-closed-doors friendly against Al Ittihad last weekend and has been handed another chance to impress the Yorkshire side.

Leeds are currently short of senior options in McIlduff's position, with Charlie Taylor quitting Elland Road for Burnley at the start of this month.

Nevertheless, the gap to the Championship side's first team could be a big one to bridge, given the Scot's lack of high-level experience.

He has previously spent time on loan to Clyde and Queen's Park and failed to make a senior appearance for Celtic.

Celtic could also be in the market for a new left-back this summer, after long-serving Honduras international Emilio Izaguirre completed a move to Al Fayha this week.

Who should Leeds sign as Taylor's replacement?
