Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers beat Watford in a friendly last night.
Martyn Waghorn scored a late winner in Rangers' behind-closed-doors friendly win over Watford on Wednesday night.
It was Rangers' penultimate warm-up clash before the Scottish Premiership season kicks off on August 5, with the Gers facing Motherwell a day later on the Sunday.
And Pedro Caixinha's side have further restored a sense of optimism, drawing 1-1 with Marseille at the weekend after being eliminated from the Europa League by Progres in arguably the club's worst ever result.
Waghorn looks like he is staying with the Ibrox side this season, despite the striker scoring just seven times in 32 Premiership outings last season.
And plenty of Rangers fans on Twitter seemed surprised that the 27-year-old still knows the way to goal.
No way waghorn actually found the back of the net— Scott Haining (@hitmanhaining9) July 26, 2017
Even the rangers twitter guy couldn't believe waghorn scored! X— Brian (@brianmcf3) July 26, 2017
As much as I detest the sight of him in a rangers kit I'm glad waghorn scored cause hopefully an unlucky team thinks he's good and signs him— Ibrox Views (@IbroxViews) July 26, 2017
If Waghorn rediscovers his scoring form he might end up being a superb partner for either Herrera or Morelos.— Smiffy (@Smiffy54AC) July 26, 2017
I've been saying it a long time now. He just looks like his confidence is shot to bits. I hope he hits form and goals soon. Hes good player— Carson1872 (@alancarson85) July 26, 2017
A actually feel sorry for the guy, he just seems so defeated— Conor Smith (@conorsmithh) July 26, 2017
It remains to be seen what Caixinha expects of the striker this season. Of course, goals are a forward's bread and butter but will be play enough?
The Portuguese boss has already recruited Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera, while evergreen Kenny Miller will also compete for a starting role up front so time will tell what sort of role awaits Waghorn.
