According to Tutto Mercato Web, Everton are accelerating their interest in Czech Republic midfielder Jakub Jankto.
Jankto, 22, plays for Udinese and is highly rated after another stellar season in Serie A last season in which he scored five times and provided four assists.
Everton however are likely to face competition from Arsenal for Jankto, as he has been scouted extensively by the Gunners.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported in April that the Gunners made a personal check on the midfielder.
The Sun reported a year earlier that Arsenal had sent scouts to watch his progress.
Jankto extended his contract earlier this year after to tie him down to 2021, and has been compared to ex-Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky.
Czech Republic's Jakub Jankto
Arsenal have numerous midfield options but Jankto could still be a smart addition.
Jack Wilshere's future is unclear as he has only one year remaining on his contract, Santi Cazorla is a long term injury absentee, and Mohamed Elneny has been linked with an exit by The Sun.
Everton are battling to be seen as a competitor for the Gunners, and won the race to sign Henry Onyekuru earlier this year.
Arsenal might not want to give up on Jankto so easily, and the Toffees stepping up their interest in the midfielder could cause Arsene Wenger to sanction a bid of their own.
