The Leeds United defender featured for the under-23s against Tadcaster Albion this week.
Leeds United defender Amadou Haidara will have no doubt been hoping to get a chance to impress new Whites manager Thomas Christiansen during pre-season. However, while the likes of Conor Shaugnessy, Paul McKay and Paudie O'Connor have had opportunities, the mysterious Frenchman has remained very much on the outside.
Haidara signed for Leeds last summer, and while there was no official announcement and some Whites fans thought it was all a bizarre joke, the 23-year-old went on to feature sporadically for the second string.
While some of his more heralded young teammates, such as Jack Vann, were released this summer, Haidara remained, and he came off the bench in a friendly against Tadcaster Albion with their social media team quick to praise his physique if not his ability.
"Tell you what, he's built like a young know what," the message from Tadcaster's Twitter account read, and a few Leeds fans were quick to respond with mixed feelings about a player some have questioned the very existence of.
Haidara is certainly a unit, as you can see from the Instagram posts he has put up since his switch to Leeds last year.
A close friend of Hadi Sacko, the two have had contrasting experiences since moving to Elland Road, and if he is not even starting a friendly for the under-23s at this stage of his career one wonders just how much longer he will remain at the club.
If Christiansen saw any kind of future for him at Leeds he would surely have given Haidara a run-out in one of the early friendlies prior to the club's trip to Austria.
Whatever the future has in store, here is what some Leeds fans had to say after the player was mentioned on Twitter earlier this week:
