According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle, Southampton and West Brom are all interested in trying to bring Napoli midfielder Allan to the Premier League this summer.
The Brazilian has featured regularly since arriving in Serie A in 2012, initially spending three years with Udinese, and it appears that the English trio are all keen to make a move for the holding midfielder during this window.
The Sun suggests that Napoli are likely to want £10 million for the 26-year-old - but that is a price that is unlikely to deter Newcastle, West Brom and the Saints.
The Sun adds that the Magpies are hoping that moving early will give them the advantage in the race for Allan as Rafa Benitez's side continue their preparations for their return to the top flight after last season's promotion.
Though Benitez left Napoli just before the midfielder arrived in 2015 and thus, he did not get the chance to work with him, he may perhaps be hoping that his knowledge of both divisions will convince the Newcastle target that he will know what it will take to ensure that he is a success at St James' Park.
But with Southampton and West Brom surely looking to get some new faces in in the very near future after both enduring quiet windows so far - especially in the Baggies' case with midfield general Darren Fletcher leaving the Hawthorns for Stoke - it would hardly be a surprise if the pair do everything they can to scupper Newcastle's hopes of landing the midfielder.
