Odds slashed: Bookies make West Ham shock 1/2 favourites to sign Brentford star Jota

Brentford's Jota celebrates after the match

The Brentford playmaker could be plying his trade with West Ham United this season, according to the bookies.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have slashed the odds in the Hammers winning the race to sign Brentford star Jota.

The Spaniard was in sensational form for the Bees last term, scoring 12 goals and chipping in with five assists in 21 Championship outings.

Unfortunately for Brentford fans, his fine form did not go unnoticed, however, with a plethora of Premier League clubs being linked with the £8 million-rated ace, including Newcastle United, Everton and West Ham United, according to the Sun.

And SkyBET believe that the 26-year-old could very well be plying his trade away from Griffin Park this season, listing him as long as 9/4 to stay in west London.

They make the Hammers 1/2 favourites to sign Jota, ahead of the Magpies at 5/1.

The east London outfit's summer finally seems to be kicking into gear, with a whole host of new arrivals beginning to flood into the London Stadium.

And if Slaven Bilic manages to bring the Brentford man to the club this summer, it could turn out to be the final piece of the jigsaw for West Ham.

The only question mark hanging over the 26-year-old's head is whether he will be able to cut it in the top flight. There is only one way to find out though...
