It has been reported by the British tabloid that Liverpool tried to sign the youngster in 2015 before his switch to Aston Villa.
According to the report, during the discussion, Barca wanted to include an option on Philippe Coutinho's transfer in the deal.
The Sun has claimed that Liverpool did not want that, leading to Traore joining Villa in the summer of 2015; the former Spain Under-19 international is now on the books of Championship club Middlesbrough, having joined them in the summer of 2016.
“When Liverpool tried to sign Nou Camp youth product Adama Traore in 2015, Barca proposed including an option on Coutinho’s transfer in the deal,” states the report in The Sun. “Liverpool refused and Traore joined Aston Villa instead.”
Traore is a talented and promising young winger, but the Spaniard has yet to convince everyone in England.
The 21-year-old failed to make a huge impact at Villa in 2015-16 and did not have a great 2016-17 campaign for Middlesbrough last season.
The former Barcelona youngster is still very raw and lacks end product, and he needs to work on it in order to be a success in the coming years.
