Former Sunderland loanee Javier Manquillo has joined Newcastle United from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Javier Manquillo has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at joining Newcastle United.

Manquillo has moved to Premier League club Newcastle from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Magpies, who will play in the Premier League next season after getting promoted from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The Spaniard knows English football well, having played on loan at Liverpool from Atletico during the 2014-15 campaign.

Manquillo spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Newcastle’s bitter rivals Sunderland, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated.

The youngster made 15 starts and five substitute appearances for the Black Cats in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal in the process.

Manquillo has taken to Twitter to express his delight at joining Newcastle, with Sunderland fans responding to his message on the social networking site.
