Wilfried Bony has been linked with a move back to Swansea City. But Watford should look to hijack the deal, if they fear that they could lose their captain.
Swansea City have been linked with Wilfried Bony over the summer and they have not given up on their chase for him, according to Foot Mervato.
The Welsh outfit top the Sky Bet odds to land the Manchester City forward.
Going back to a former club sometimes works well, but it is quite a different regime now at Swansea. Since Bony left, Alan Curtis has had two spells as caretaker manager at the club, while Francesco Guiodolin, Bob Bradley and now Paul Clement have all followed on from Garry Monk.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as Wilfried Bony and Yaya Toure are substituted
Bony has not found the Premier League as fruitful since his Swansea days. Yet, his goalscoring prowess in his early days earned him his move to Manchester City in January 2015, as the BBC reports and he will be hoping to recover that form wherever he moves to.
His drop off in goals is not putting clubs off from signing the Ivorian striker. Watford could offer Bony just as good a deal as Swansea City, and by adding a striker that is very familiar with the League the Hornets would be strengthening their squad with a player that has something to prove.
Such a move for Bony might be more pressing for Watford if Leicester City improve on their offer for Watford captain Troy Deeney, as reported by the Sun.
Bony, 28, would probably command a similar fee to Deeney, but Watford would need to be signing the Bony that did so well for Swansea City and who took the Premier League by storm.

The striker himself might not know how he can best get back to his scoring best. Bony has even suggested that his aim is to work hard and try and get into the Manchester City team again, according to the Daily Mail.
That would seem unlikely to happen after Bony was loaned to Stoke City last season. Pep Guardiola also dispatches players that he no longer requires. Joe Hart is a case in point, according to the Sun.
However, as a striker Bony will command a good fee, even if Watford would need to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Swansea City if they did want this experienced Premier League forward.
