The Leicester City ace is a reported transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

A report from the Evening Standard today claims that Spurs have asked the Foxes to be kept informed regarding any developments to Riyad Mahrez‘ situation at the King Power Stadium.

The 26-year-old winger has asked to leave Leicester this summer, and the club have granted his wish, on the condition that any potentially interested party pays £50 million for his services.

The Algerian was instrumental during the Foxes’ 2015/16 Premier League winning campaign, scoring 17 goals and chipping in with 11 assists in 37 league outings.

His form somewhat dipped last season, however, with his tally of just six goals and three assists highlighting how much he regressed from the year before.

Many Leicester fans and pundits pointed to a poor attitude as the major contributing factor behind his slump, with Mahrez’ making it clear that he was no longer happy in the east Midlands.

The Algeria international winger’s poor season did little to put off potential suitors, however, with both Arsenal and Roma reportedly interested in signing him this summer, according to the Mirror.

And the Evening Standard claim that Tottenham are ready to challenge for the skilful winger’s signature, but are not prepared to pay anywhere near the £50 million that Leicester value their star man at.

And whilst the Lilywhites are in desperate need of a major summer signing, there is surely better value to be had in the market than the kind of money being banded about for Mahrez’ services.
