Manchester United have been linked with a move for the versatile attacker.

According to an exclusive report from Calcio Mercato, Manchester United are keen on signing Fluminense player Richarlison, with his current club putting a £17.7million price tag on his head.

United are not the only club interested, with AC Milan also said to be tracking the player who scored six goals in just 15 appearances last season.

Still only 20, the Brazilian is predominantly a left winger although he can also operate as a secondary striker or on the opposite flank if required, and given United's ongoing struggles to seal a deal for Ivan Perisic, one wonders if Jose Mourinho is considering alternatives.

The United manager needs more out-and-out wingers but Richarlison would not be an instant solution given his inexperience and possible difficulties securing a work permit.

That said, United have signed Brazilians in the past, with varying degrees of success, and for £17.7million a move for Richarlison could prove to be a bargain in an otherwise inflated market.

United have brought in Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof so far this summer and they need another winger and a holding midfielder if they want to challenge both domestically and in the Champions League next season.

That said, they could also look at signing a star of the future for a relatively cheap fee - at least when you consider some of the prices being commanded from Europe's top clubs for average players - and only time will tell if United bring in the Brazilian or continue to watch his development from afar.
