Everton have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 17, 2017) that Everton will not finish in the top four of the Premier League next season.

The Merseyside outfit finished seventh in the Premier League table during the 2016-17 campaign, as many as 15 points ahead of Southampton, who ended up seventh in the standings.

The Toffees have been quite busy so far in the summer transfer window, making a number of new signings in order to reinforce their squad for the 2017-18 campaign.

Among the players that Ronald Koeman’s side have recruited so far this summer are attacking midfielder Davy Klaassen, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, defender Michael Keane and forward Wayne Rooney.

Many Everton fans will hope that the Toffees can at least challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

It is going to be tough, though, as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all will be fighting for the Champions League places.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan does not think that Everton will finish in the top four, and said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 17, 2017): “Everton are spending the money that they have earned from a big transfer, and I expect them to be a competitive team, but I don’t expect them to be knocking on the door of top four anytime soon.”
