Some Newcastle United fans appear to feel that Rafael Benitez has treated Tim Krul harshly, after leaving the goalkeeper off of the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Ireland.
Krul has not even traveled with the rest of the Newcastle team, as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
The Dutch stopper is set to leave St. James’ Park this summer, but some Newcastle fans believe he should have been shown some more respect.
I kinda feel for Tim Krul. Been one of my favourite players for the last 5/6 yrs and he's just been thrown to the side because of injury— Dicky (@Dicky0130) July 16, 2017
Same, really poor treatment by Benitez. Deserves at least pre-season to prove himself.— Luke Summers (@Luke9S) July 16, 2017
Tim's a good keeper, along with Elliot and Darlow, don't know why he's looking for another!— joooolzzzz333 (@joooolzzzz333) July 16, 2017
Don't understand Saivet travelling and Krul left behind. Tim can cut it in the Premier League. Henri can't.— Sam Cook (@Funguslover) July 16, 2017
Feel sorry for Krul been great servant for us thought he might had a chance but looks on his way out— hutchy (@Hutchylegend) July 16, 2017
Why leave Krul out of Ireland trip surely our best keeper #nufc— Reuben Young (@reubeny96) July 16, 2017
I'd say so as well. Honestly thought he'd be given a chance to prove himself again over the summer for number 1 spot. Obvs not.— Brett Wilkinson (@brett1892) July 16, 2017
Krul has been a good servant to Newcastle over the years, and has previously been a solid option at Premier League level.
The 29-year-old has been with Newcastle since 2006, and has made 185 appearances for the Tynesiders.
Krul was sent out on loan to AZ last term, and there seems to be no way back for him now.
Benitez has decided that he wants a new number one for the upcoming campaign, as Newcastle look to compete back in the Premier League.
The Magpies currently have the likes of Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman competing for a place between the sticks in Benitez’s starting line-up.
