Newcastle United beat Hearts 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Tynecastle last night, but fans of the North East club seem more excited about one player than they do about the result.
Rolando Aarons was given a start by manager Rafael Benitez in what was the 21-year-old's first outing for Newcastle in 11 months due to injury.
And he took the chance with both hands.
The youngster, who was subbed at half time, was a constant threat to Hearts during his 45-minute spell and hit the crossbar twice - the second of which was most unlucky, after a sublime chipped grazed the woodwork in what would've been a fine goal.
And Newcastle fans were left raving about him on Twitter following his performance.

So from the sounds of tonight we NEED to keep Aarons and De Jong fit this season #NUFC— NUFC Follower (@NUFCFollower) July 14, 2017
De Jong and Aarons will be game changers next season. So much quality which we already have. Shame they're made from glass #NUFC— The Black And White (@TBAWMagazine) July 14, 2017
For anyone not watchin the NUFC game, Shelvey looks the real deal...focused and in perfect condition !!! Aarons looks exciting— ⚫️⚪️ GEORDIE ⚫️⚪️ (@MarcTaylor7) July 14, 2017
Aarons is undeniably a fine talent, and has been for some time now, but given that he was out of action for a year, Benitez will try ease him back into the fold.
He does not need unnecessary expectation to potentially hinder his development, but the Spaniard is an excellent man-manager and should handle the situation with the utmost care.
