West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are reportedly interested in signing French international Josuha Guilavogui from Wolfsburg according to German outlet Latten Kreutz. The report also adds that the midfielder is valued at around £7 million, with a year left on his current contract.
The defensive midfielder formerly of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid has seven caps to his name for France. Guilavogui made only 19 appearances for the Germans last season owing to a neck injury which kept him out of the first half of the season.
Wolfsburg have already lost the services of key midfielder Luis Gustavo to Olympique de Marseille for a fee reported by Goal to be around £7 million.
Both, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are looking to strengthen in midfield, especially the Baggies who lost their captain Darren Fletcher to the Potters. Tony Pulis is also reportedly looking at Everton midfielder Gareth Barry (according to Daily Mail) to replace to the Scotsman, but as the former Manchester City man isn't getting any younger at 36, Guilavogui could be a viable alternative (if not an upgrade).
The Potters have struggled to replace the physical presence of Steven N'Zonzi since his departure from the club in 2015, and with the likes of Giannelli Imbula severely underperforming last season, a midfielder partner for Darren Fletcher is of the highest priority.
Given the financial muscle of both Premier League sides over Wolfsburg, if the reported interest is indeed true, £7 million for a French international in the current market would be a bargain.
