Scott Malone has done the rounds in terms of gaining experience in the Championship, but now that he has his break in the Premier League can he make the grade at Huddersfield?

Fulham have allowed Scott Malone to leave the London club to take part in Huddersfield Town’s first season in the Premier League, reports the Sun.

The move is a chance for the midfielder to further develop his career at a club that has been playing some exciting football and Malone won’t disappoint in that area.

David Wagner, Huddersfield Town’s manager, is looking certainly forward to working with the former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall and Bournemouth defender, telling the Huddersfield website: “I’m excited to welcome Scott to Huddersfield Town. Our fans will have seen in our games against Fulham last season what a good player he is and I know his abilities will suit our style of play very well.

“Scott is a good physical presence and is a very capable defender, plus he adds a lot going forward. He shows good football intelligence to time his forward runs and can set up goals for teammates and scoring them himself.

Malone, 26, signed a three-year deal at Huddersfield and will surely be delighted to have reached the Premier League, having spent his career in the lower divisions. He might have made it to the top with AFC Bournemouth, but left the south cost club in May 2012, in a swap deal with Josh McCoid.

His time at Fulham has been most productive for him. Always known for his dribbling skills, Malone has the ability to split defences wide-open. Whether Malone’s defensive attributes are quite as good is something that will be closely examined in the top flight.

Last season Malone made six assists and scored three goals in Fulham’s league campaign. His defensive work included 57 tackles, and Malone made appearances in six games when Fulham earned clean sheets. Encouragingly, Malone’s tackle rate was the highest amongst Fulham’s players, and he does get involved in a few tussles, picking up 8 yellow cards in 2016-17.

Competition for a starting place will come from Chris Lowe and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, but Malone’s versatility also make him an option as a left-winger.
