Leeds United have been linked with another right-sided player.
According to a recent report from Aragon TV, Leeds United are interested in bringing Alexander Gonzalez to Elland Road this summer, and with the same source citing ongoing interest in Samu Saiz, it seems the Whites could be planning a double raid on Spanish side Huesca.
However, while Gonzalez is able to play as a right-back, he has blossomed into a fine right winger in recent seasons and one wonders if Leeds are considering him as a potential alternative to Ezgjan Alioski.
A report from Correire dello Tecino earlier this summer claimed Leeds wanted to bring the Macedonia international to England, and a quick look at his stats shows why.
However, a return of 17 goals and 14 assists for Swiss side Lugano last season means he will have plenty of suitors this summer, and Leeds will have to go some to seal a deal for the 25-year-old.
In contrast, Gonzalez managed just four goals and two assists for Huesca, so it is a no-brainer when it comes to which player Leeds fans would want at the club if they could choose. The problem could come if Lugano start a bidding war, potentially causing Leeds to look elsewhere.
Gonzalez rarely features at right-back anymore, and Leeds are already well stocked in that area with Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi to call on next season and the recently loaned-out Lewie Coyle also on their books.
If Berardi plays on the left as he did last season, there could be a place in the squad for the versatile Gonzalez, but after barely featuring in defence for the last three years, if the Venezuelan does arrive at Leeds it will surely be to challenge in his favoured position.
