Aston Villa are seemingly on the brink of signing the veteran defender.
The five-time Premier League winner looks set to sign a one-year contract with Aston Villa, after a 22-year stint with Chelsea came to an end this summer.
The 36-year-old, according to ESPN, will finalise his Bosman switch to the West Midlands club over the weekend as a gruelling 46-match season awaits him in England's second tier.
And former Liverpool man Nicol believes that the presence of Bruce - who swapped Manchester United for a Championship spell during his playing days - is a big factor in his decision to join the Villans.
"He has been through it himself, so he'll know that he [Terry] can only maybe train two days a week in one week, and maybe three the next week.
"That's, in my opinion, why Terry goes to Aston Villa, because Steve Bruce."
He would cost Aston Villa quite a bit in regards to salary, but the veteran centre-back can clearly be a huge asset in the Villans' quest for Premier League promotion.
The former England captain won England's top flight on five occasions during a glittering stint in West London, and also won the Champions League in 2012.
