The Leicester City man could be an excellent addition to the Newcastle United squad this summer.

The Magpies face an incredibly challenging Premier League campaign ahead of them, and Rafa Benitez will have to ensure that he strengthens his options accordingly, if he expects to guide his side to a top-10 finish.

The Spaniard will be under no illusions at the size of the task ahead of him, and despite his side’s impressive Championship campaign last season, there is still plenty of work to be done.

One particular area where Newcastle undoubtedly need to strengthen is the forward department, after Benitez’ side became too heavily reliant upon Dwight Gayle last term.

With this in mind, the Toon should consider making a bold move for Foxes hitman Jamie Vardy.

The 30-year-old was sensational during Leicester’s miraculous Premier League title success in the 2015/16 season, but much like all of his teammates, his performance levels dropped last term.

He did still score 13 league goals, however, and has plenty to offer at the very highest level.

Vardy plays with a certain level of tenacity that the Magpies have been bereft of recently, and his never-say-die attitude, along with his commitment to the cause would surely help endear him to the Toon Army.

The Leicester man’s rise in the game from playing non-league football just five years ago is underlined by the 16 caps he has earned for the England national team, and his pace along with the clinical finishing ability he possesses would add a much more potent facet to Newcastle’s attacking play.

He will surely not come cheap though, with three years still remaining on his current deal at the King Power Stadium. Newcastle are heavily armed with cash following their promotion to the top flight, however, and should be in a position to tempt the Foxes into selling.
