The former Fiorentina midfielder has been on the books of Verona since 2014 and has a contract with the Italian club until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

According to talkSPORT, Romulo scored four goals and provided nine assists to help Verona get promoted from Serie B to Serie A at the end of last season.

The 30-year-old played the 2014-15 campaign on loan at Italian giants Juventus, winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the process.

Romulo is a good and versatile player who would be a good signing for Newcastle, especially if the price is not too high.

Rafael Benitez’s side will feature in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
