Leeds Untied have failed in a bid for FC Twente ace Mateusz Klich, according to Dutch news outlet Tubantia.

Klich signed for Twente one year ago from Kaiserslautern and Twente are reluctant to sell.

The 27-year-old is a Poland international and has won the Dutch Cup with PEC Zwolle back in 2014.

It is claimed Leeds are serious admirers of the central midfielder and are expected to follow up their initial offer.

Klich scored six goals this past season and provided four assists.

Leeds were first linked with Klich by Voetbal International one month ago although at that stage no offer had been made.

Since then Leeds have changed managers, with Garry Monk resigning and taking up a post at Middlesbrough, with Thomas Christiansen appointed last week as his replacement.

The Whites are looking to make their first signing under Christiansen, and while Klich is a candidate, Tubantia report Twente are confident he will remain with them heading into the 2017/18 season.
