Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be looking to sign Adnan Januzaj from Manchester United.

According to a report in the Daily Record, Celtic are set to miss out on signing Patrick Roberts this summer.

Celtic had been reportedly closing in on a permanent transfer for the Manchester City wide-man.

However, the Record have suggested that Roberts will now be given a chance to show his worth with City over pre-season.

And Celtic’s hopes of signing Roberts now appear to be very slim, in a major blow for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Roberts has spent the last 18 months at Celtic, and become a real fans’ favourite at the Glasgow outfit.

However, although Celtic fans may be disappointed at the prospect of missing out on Roberts, Rodgers could be working on a transfer deal which is even more exciting.

According to a report in the Press and Journal, Celtic are trying to sign Adnan Januzaj from Manchester United.

And the arrival of Januzaj may even trump the excitement that could have been created by a potential Roberts return.

Januzaj’s career at United has stalled in recent times, but he remains a wonderful prospect.

And if Rodgers could bring the Belgian youngster to Parkhead then Celtic would more than make up for missing out on signing Roberts.
