According to a report in The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, June 18, 2017), Sheffield Wednesday are set to make a move for RB Leipzig winger Oliver Burke and he could be a brilliant addition for Carlos Carvalhal’s side.
Burke made a huge impact at Nottingham Forest over the 2015/16 campaign, and his form impressed the Bundesliga side enough to convince them to sign the youngster in a big money deal last summer.
Since moving to Germany, Burke has generally played a rotational role - but he has still shown flashes of quality.
And if Wednesday could bring Burke in, it would give them one of the most fearsome attacks outside the Premier League.
The Owls will have Jordan Rhodes, Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper all lining up for them up-front next season - and they are all proven Championship stars.
With Fernando Forestieri providing creativity, Wednesday already have the weaponry to threaten most teams in the Championship, but Burke would provide them with a different option.
Burke provides pace and skill from wide areas, and his arrival at Hillsborough is a tantalising prospect for the Owls.
Wednesday have been ever so close to promotion for the past two seasons, but Burke’s addition could prove the difference and help the Yorkshire side go one step further this time around.
