Manchester City are interested in signing Nicolas Pepe from Angers in the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.

According to the report, Newcastle United and Watford have already shown interest in signing the 22-year-old winger this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s City are now claimed to have joined the race for the talented and promising young Ivory Coast international.

The Northern Echo has also reported that City have been in touch with Angers, and that they will look to loan Pepe to Spanish side Girona if they secure his services this summer.

It would be hard for Newcastle to compete with City for Pepe, but if they lose out on the youngster on a permanent deal, then they should make a loan offer.

Given the competition for places in the Citizens’ team, it is hard to see Pepe play regularly at the Etihad Stadium next season.

The Magpies could try to convince City to send the youngster to St. James’ Park on loan next season so that he can adapt to the rigours and the competitive nature of the Premier League.
