Leicester City are considering a second bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans after seeing their opening £10m offer rejected.

The Telegraph reports that the Foxes are frustrated with Middlesbrough's valuation of Ben Gibson and have therefore made signing Evans a top priority.

West Brom told the 2015/16 Premier League champions that the Northern Ireland international was not for sale at any price, but Leicester are hoping they will shift on that stance with an improved offer.

Craig Shakespeare has already sealed a £17m deal to bring Harry Maguire to the King Power Stadium from Hull City and now wants to bolster his defensive ranks even further.

Evans has been with the Baggies since the summer of 2015 after joining from boyhood club Manchester United - where he had won the Premier League three times, the EFL Cup twice and the Champions League.

Since arriving at the Midlands club the 29-year-old has played 65 games in all competitions and has been regularly praised for his performances.
