Watford are keen on Bologna midfielder Saphir Taider and that can only be a good sign for Derby County fans.

Watford are preparing a €5 million for Bologna midfielder Saphir Taider, reports Bologna newspaper Il Resto del Carlino (Football Italia).

The Algerian international scored four goals in 25 appearances for the Serie A club last season and could be set for a move to Vicarage Road this summer.

Taider is a creative playmaker prefers to play in a central midfield role but is also capable of playing in a defensive or more advanced position.

He shares similar attributes to Derby midfielder Hughes, who was been linked with a move to the Premier League club. According to the Daily Star, Hughes could be Marco Silva's first signing as Hornets manager in a £5.5 million deal.

Hughes is currently on duty with the England U21s at Euro 2017 and the reported move has sparked fury amongst Derby supporters. The 22-year-old has been touted with a switch to the Premier League almost immediately since making his debut for the Rams back in 2011.

If the midfielder was to leave Pride Park then they would be expecting the fee paid to be far more substantial than the reported bid made by Watford, especially as Hughes has just recently signed a new deal with Derby.

The Rams have managed to keep hold of Hughes in previous transfer windows and it would be disappointing if they were to let one of their prized assets leave for such a low figure.

The potential signing of Taider will ease the concern of Rams fans who will be hoping to see them keep hold of Hughes for at least another season as they bid to finally return to the Premier League.
