Everton are reportedly set to sign Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez.

Everton splashed the cash to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, but more spending is set to come.

The Toffees are looking to continue their progression under Ronald Koeman having finished seventh in the Premier League last season, handing them a route back into the Europa League.

Pickford and Klaassen are both major signings both for now and for the future, with a combined expenditure of around £54million according to The Guardian – but their next signing may come for just a tenth of that outlay.

Sky Sports report that Everton are poised to tie up the £5.25million capture of Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez, having activated a release clause in his contract with the Andalusian side.

It's even claimed that Everton have fended off competition from Champions League giants Juventus in order to land Ramirez, with the 21-year-old poised to be confirmed as Everton's next summer signing.

Whilst the price tag may not grab the headlines, beating Juventus – a giant of European football and the reigning Serie A champions – to Sandro's signature is a strong sign that Everton can fight elite clubs for big signings in this ambitious new era.

The 21-year-old, formerly of Barcelona, hit 14 goals for Malaga this past season, and he has attributes that will make him vital for Everton. Sandro is quick, incisive and possesses great predatory instincts, whilst he's also a strong runner with the ball and a deadly set piece taker.

Whether used up front or out wide, Sandro can be a huge contributor for Everton – and at just over £5million, this certainly looks to be a bargain, but don't let the low price fool you; this is also a major signal of intent for Everton having beaten off strong competition to lure the Spaniard to Goodison Park.
